The article looks at the ethical and moral implications of the 2017 President’s request, as the budget would reduce funding for several poverty-focused development-assistance accounts. Already, less than 1 percent of the U.S. federal budget goes to international development activities, including food assistance, global health programs and international disaster assistance.
